Painted to reflect the Hemingway Era, Old Bimini brings the viewer into a historical snapshot of Bimini Island in the 1930s. As a man of passion, Hemingway had many muses, but a very notable one was this island. In his book Islands in the Stream, the opening chapter describes Bimini and the local painter Thomas Hudson, who lived at the highest point of the island. Hemingway describes this place as if he were on a poetic mission. Just as a painter focuses on every brushstroke, rendering the scene as detailed as possible, Old Bimini is that realized vision and tribute to those words. Sending the viewer back to the time when Papa walked Bimini’s streets and fished in its shimmering waters.
