The Belted Kingfisher (Megaceryle alcyon) can be found throughout most of North America and Central America. They feed almost entirely on aquatic prey. Their nests are borrows found in earthy banks of the water they hunt. The male has a blue band on his chest while the female has a blue and chestnut-colored band on her chest. They are not considered endangered at this time.
